The Titanic was the largest vessel of its kind at the time and carried over 2,200 passengers on the maiden voyage. It became one of the largest disasters ever, making it one of the most memorable moments in history.

Memorabilia from the Titanic consists of the most valued collectibles in the world. It’s a collection of items that include maps, equipment, and personal belongings that are valued into the millions.

A Moment in Time

Titanic memorabilia is the only connection to this tragic event. Many of the items that were recovered were personal possessions that included valuable jewelry and artwork.

This has only added to the value and appeal of these items, as these items now fetch large sums of money at auctions.

The following are just some of the most expensive pieces of Titanic memorabilia.

Life Jacket

One of the most expensive pieces of memorabilia is the life jacket recovered at the scene of the disaster. There are currently 6 life jackets from the Titanic that exist.

Members of the search party were sent to find any survivors, and recovered life jackets and other items related to the disaster. Despite being in poor condition, a life jacket was purchased for $55,000.

Iceberg Photo

During the Titanic’s fateful journey, there were many pictures taken. But only one shows what is believed to be the iceberg with which the ship collided. It is the only photograph that exists of the iceberg, and was taken shortly after the accident.

Rescue workers observed red paint marks on it, allowing them to conclude that it was in fact the exact location of the collision.

In 2012, the photograph became one of the most valuable pieces of Titanic memorabilia when it was purchased for more than $100,000.

Pocket Watch

The recovered watch that was owned by the ship’s first class steward is the most telling piece of memorabilia. Its hands are stopped at 2:16, indicating the time at which he entered the ocean waters.

This timepiece was sold in 2008 for $154,000.

Diamond Bracelet Collection

Perhaps the most valuable Titanic memorabilia consists of the famous diamond bracelet collection that was recovered from the wreckage.

There was a large amount of jewelry on board, given the number of wealthy people who were in attendance. These have been some of the most popular pieces of memorabilia sold at auctions.

A diamond bracelet engraved with a passenger’s name has been the most valuable piece of recovered memorabilia. This piece is part of a collection that was recovered in a 1987 expedition.

In total, the collection has sold for approximately $200,000,000.

Titanic memorabilia is some of the most sought after collectibles in the world. The historic event has been etched in the imaginations of so many people, further increasing its value.
