Told the Toronto Blue Jays plan to overhaul its uniforms for the 2012 season, three clothing designers from the city were asked by the Toronto Sun recently to come up with a new style for the team.
Designers Shawn Hewson, Christopher Bates and Michael Budman each took a whack at creating a new look for the team by providing the newspaper with sketches for the entire outfit – pants, jersey, socks, cleats and hat.
"My concept was to have the maple leaf be fairly prominent but also done in a tasteful, fashion kind of way," Bates told the paper. Budman stated his drawing revealed a more classic, old-school look, while Hewson said his sketch was a throwback to the team's original uniforms.
One commonality among the designers, according to the paper, was a strong inclusion of the color blue throughout the uniform given the team's name.
Should the Blue Jays begin to use new uniforms starting next season, the team may need a place to store the old uniforms until its next throwback game. Jiffy Self Storage specializes in business storage needs for companies in the area.
