EdgeWalk officially opens

After months of anticipation, Toronto’s most extreme attraction for tourists and locals alike opened to the public August 1. It’s called the EdgeWalk, and it’s situated atop the iconic CN Tower. For a fee, thrill seekers can walk on the boundary of the towering precipice, which stands 116 storeys, or 1168 feet.

“We’re extremely excited this day is finally here,” said Mark Laroche, president and CEO of Canada Lands Company, which owns the CN Tower. “The public has shown that they are ready and eager to push their limits by taking part in Toronto’s most exciting attraction in decades.”

Those participating in the EdgeWalk will be taken to the top of the tower in groups of six, where they can then take in the breathtaking views of the Toronto skyline.

Jack Robinson, COO of the Toronto landmark, said there has been a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for the EdgeWalk, as tickets have been snapped up ever since they went up for sale in June.

The height of the attraction may cause some to raid their storage units to find their climbing safety equipment. They should be left where they are, however, as CN Tower says all riders will be securely fastened to an overhead rail that wraps around their back and waist.
