Toronto residents want updated transit system, not condos

Over the past few months, many Toronto residents have been wondering whether or not the booming condo industry will benefit the economy. According to Toronto Star contributor Christopher Hume, the condos have transformed Toronto from a "big town" into a metropolitan community. Though the buildings are making the city more desirable, some experts believe the city's money needs to be allocated toward a new transit system.

"At the same time, these new densities bring new priorities; streets can no longer remain the exclusive domain of cars and drivers," Hume wrote. "Yes, we need more public transit, bike lanes and wider sidewalks; we also need fewer cars on the road."

Some people are not able to afford a new home due to the economy but would still like a place to store their extra personal items until they are able to do so. In this case, renting a Toronto self storage unit will be able to accommodate the individual and help them stay organized.

Although a lot of residents are unhappy with the condos being built, Jennifer Keesmaat, Toronto's chief planner of the strategy, said the plan could be beneficial.

"You could argue the plan is working," she said. "As we create that critical mass around transit zones, one of the things that we are also seeing is that we create a very strong pedestrian environment."

Jiffy offers businesses plenty of options for Toronto storage, whether one needs to store filing cabinets or office supplies. What's more, the company is currently holding a contest for a new iPad 3, which is a device that just about every business person could use to help improve productivity.
