Get the Maximum Storage Space Out of Your Home

Maximizing your home’s storage capacity means maximizing your home’s spaciousness. The less clutter there is, the more spacious your home will look and feel. You don’t want to just shove everything in the closet! Here are some innovative ideas for maximizing your home’s storage potential.

Storage Space Out Of Your Home

Multi-Tasking Items

Items that look like unassuming pieces of furniture, but have hidden storage capacity are a great way of making your home appear more spacious. Storage ottomans double as a footrest, and as storage for DVDs, CDs, or whatever else you like.

Many coffee tables also have shelves or storage underneath. De-cluttering the living room is a great way to impress guests.

For your home’s entryway, consider a bench that opens up to storage inside. A bench is a great touch, and functional too, as people may want to sit down when taking their shoes on and off. A storage bench would be a great place to store winter clothing like hats and gloves, or any other things you might want handy in the entryway!

Look Up

There are many ways to use your walls themselves as storage space. Hanging hooks in hallways is an attractive way to store coats, while hanging them in the bedroom or bathroom creates extra storage for towels and robes.

Many kitchen storage solutions use walls as well. Look into wall-mounted knife racks, wine racks, spice racks, or pot hangers, and free up cupboard space.

Mounting shelves on the wall is a good way to maximize a smaller space. Shelves on the wall look great, and can house anything from books, to decorations, to plants, while taking up far less room than a shelving unit.

Organize

A little organization goes a long way. Invest in some closet dividers to maximize closet space. Bring some order to your office by using a filing cabinet to house all the loose paper. Clean up your drawers with drawer organizers.

There are many organization options, like dividers, baskets, shelving solutions, and more to keep your home in shape.

De-Clutter

It can be remarkable how much of your space is taken up by things you hardly use. Getting rid of things you don’t need is a great starting point for organizing your home.

For things you know you’ll never use, consider having a yard sale, or donating items to second-hand stores or charity drives which usually accept clothing, household items, and sometimes furniture and appliances.

Seasonal items such as clothes can end up taking up lots of closet space. Out of season clothes could be stored in sliding drawers that fit underneath your bed, or stored safely in your attic or garage.

Consider renting a storage unit for larger items, or if you find you have a lot of things to store.

The more you research, the more ideas you’ll find to maximize your space. Maximizing storage space can have breathtaking results, and will help you create the home you’ve always dreamt of!
