As more news regarding the popularity of the self storage industry spreads, it's no wonder that people also continue to come up with new and strange items to keep within such facilities, the Hartford Courant reports.
According to the news outlet, the storage industry has become a "you never know what you're gonna get" type of business. A company in Newington, Connecticut, reported having a group of teenagers rent out portable storage containers only to find out later (by hearing it) that they were using the units for band practice.
Bob Rogers, the owner of a facility out of Phoenix, Arizona, told the publication about the strangest renter he's ever heard of.
"One lady showed up at a California place with a big truck," Rogers told the newspaper. "In it was a Corvette, completely disassembled and in wooden boxes. Her ex-husband lost it to her in divorce and that's how he gave it to her. She wanted a place to store it until she could have it pieced together."
Although there might be some strange items kept in these facilities, many find these spaces the best option for storing their extra stuff. According to SelfStorageBlog.ca, storage units can come in handy because they tend to offer plenty of options when it comes to the size of the units and even more specific amenities, such as climate controlled units or ones with handicapped ramps.
