Hollywood North has made a comeback in the film and television industry as the industry's finances show spending increased $903 million in 2010, to $1.15 billion in 2011. The Toronto Film Festival also recently came to a close, after 11 days, nearly 300 films and more than 1,000 screenings later.
Any Toronto-area film fans looking for portable storage containers for their movie paraphernalia should look into Jiffy self storage.
Much of Toronto's spending in 2011 went to the 1990s remake, Total Recall. Prior to the past few years, spending for films was deflated by the financial crisis, 9/11 and SARS. In 2007, Toronto's feature film industry saw a 73 percent drop in spending from 2007 to 2008.
Now with increased spending and good press from the Toronto Film Festival it would appear the industry is back in full swing. Taking one of the top awards was Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence's Silver Lining Playbook winning the coveted People's Choice award.
Previous films that won this award were The King's Speech and Slumdog Millionaire, which both went on to have big nights at the Oscars.
