Toronto's housing market is booming, thanks in part to the rising popularity of condominiums.
According to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, condo starts reached 176,000 units in April, well above the initially anticipated 175,000 units. While the market has been somewhat softening from its robust pace last year, the report showed that high-rise condo construction starts were actually 22 percent higher in major urban center in May on a month-over-month comparison.
With the strong demand for condos continuing throughout Toronto, those moving from a single-family home to a smaller, urban residence will want to free up some space in their home. Self storage units are an affordable option to getting items out of a condo, while still allowing you to hang on to them.
"With the condo apartment construction market opening the year on a softer note, the backlog of condo units sold for the most part in 2011, but not started, resulted in stronger numbers in May," Ted Tsiakopoulos, Ontario regional economist for CMHC, told The Toronto Star.
