Homes awarded from lottery see prices slashed

Homebuyers searching for a steal on the market should look at the homes awarded each year from the Princess Margaret Lottery.

Last year's grand prize, a 7,000-square-foot home valued at $4.3 million awarded in May, is now on the market for only $2.9 million, according to Toronto Life.

Homebuyers in the midst of a move should look into self storage units, which can be a safe and reliable way to store many household items.

"They do fluff up the prices for the lottery," said Brad Miller, a Century 21 broker who sold the 2011 grand prize house for more than $1.7 million less than its initial estimated value. "I don't think anyone cares, because the prizes are still worth lots of money."

The 7,000-square-foot concept home features cathedral ceilings, five bathrooms, four fireplaces, three bedrooms and a yoga room in the basement

Self storage can be a smart way to hang on to valuable items without taking up room in a house or apartment. For Toronto storage solutions, there's no better than Jiffy Self Storage. Those interested in self storage should check out the affordable rates on Jiffy's website, where they can also enter to win a free iPad 3.
