A new survey details what Canadians are hoping to find waiting for them under the Christmas tree this year.
The survey, conducted by Vision Critical on behalf of a leading office retail chain, found that 60 percent of Canadians would like some type of technology gift this year.
When respondents were asked to define what type of technological device they would like, 16 percent said they wanted a tablet, followed by laptops at 10 percent, cameras at 6 percent and e-readers at 5 percent.
Commenting on the study, Rich Atkinson, vice president of marketing for the office supply retailer, said the survey's results are an indication there is a strong desire among Canadians to upgrade their existing technology belongings.
Should Canadians get the latest technology for the holiday this year, they may be wondering what to do with their old tablet, laptop or mobile device. Throwing items like these in the trash can pose environmental hazards due to their high mercury content. Instead, Canadians should consider housing them in a storage unit for the time being. The items may prove useful for friends or neighbors at some point.
