It's long been talked about, but it appears that the province of Quebec is moving closer to eventual independence, according to comments made by ex-politician Michael Ignatieff.
Ignatieff gave an interview with the BBC regarding the state of Scottish independence in the United Kingdom. The ex-Liberal leader compared the situation to that of Quebec. The U.K. recently gave Scotland more autonomy, as Canada did Quebec, but Ignatieff calls this a "temporary solution."
Ultimately, the former politician contends that Quebec and Canada have become too different, and the optimism he had for a united country years ago has fallen by the wayside.
"The problem here is we don’t have anything to say to each other anymore," he reportedly said. "There’s a kind of contract of mutual indifference, which is very striking for someone of my generation."
If Quebec does one day become independent, it could kick off a round of movement across the country. Those who wanted to remain Canadian could potentially leave the province for other cities, while those that always supported Quebec's independence could move there and become full citizens. When moving, it's important to keep in mind that secure storage lockers can be extremely beneficial, as they provide extra space for objects at an affordable price.
Jiffy Self Storage, a leader in Toronto storage solutions, is currently running a contest on their website for a free iPad 3. Visitors to the site simply need to match a few Canadian landmarks and they'll be entered to win the iPad or one of several other prizes.
