Self storage has many wonderful uses. People all over use self storage solutions for a number of different reasons. Regardless of the reason, the units protect the belongings as long as they are stored properly. One of the most habitual users of storage units are EBay sellers.

EBay-Items-And-Self-Storage

Some people chose to make a living off of their EBay sales. If you are used to selling things online, it would be wise to have somewhere to store your entire inventory. Of course, no one wants a ton of random and miscellaneous items taking over their own home, so self storage is a viable solution to the problem.

Benefits of Self Storage for EBay Sellers

By using self storage, not only are you keeping your office or residential property free of the extra clutter, but you are giving the items a safe haven until they are sold. As long as you store the items appropriately, they should remain safe and sound. The key is to keep everything accessible and in sight so that you aren’t fumbling around trying to find the right item to send off.

How to Pack Away EBay Items Safely

When you are packing away items that will eventually be pulled out after they are sold, make sure that you can easily see and find them. Using air tight clear plastic containers in various sizes might be the best solution. Even if the boxes are clear, it is best to label them anyway.

Align and stack the entire inventory against the walls of the unit so that you can easily walk in and access what you need. Even if you must opt for a larger storage unit to do this, it will be worth the small extra expenses.

Make sure that everything you are selling is clean. Keeping the unit clean is also just as important. It will help to keep pests away and prevent the items from accumulating a foul odor. Keep the unit dry and try to keep all of the containers from sitting directly on the floor. Don’t allow any water to get into the unit and make sure it stays cool and dry at all times of the year. It is best to get a humidity controlled storage unit.

Storing away EBay items in a self storage unit is a great way to have access to everything without keeping it on your own property. Just make sure you stay organized and pack away everything tightly.

You’ve been working hard to create a brand you can call your own, creating home-made items that you want to share with the world. Now, you’re ready for the big time: Your very own Etsy store. Before you set up shop online, there are five steps to starting an Etsy store that you should follow.

Starting An Etsy Store

  1. Rent a storage unit to house your merch. People often forget that what they’re selling takes up space before it goes to the customer. Instead of having piles of merchandise throughout your home ready for you to trip over, get a storage unit. Having a unit as your stockroom is cheaper than renting an office or workspace, and you will be the only one with the key to your unit. You don’t have to worry about theft because you’re the sole person who has access to your storage space.
  2. Choose a compelling name for your store. Peruse Etsy’s existing shops and see what names work and which ones don’t. Make sure your company’s name reflects the products you’re selling by using targeted keywords. For instance, if you are selling handmade leather goods you should probably have the word “leather” somewhere in your store’s name. Additionally, you should make sure the name you choose hasn’t already been taken to avoid any lawsuits.
  3. Decide where you want to ship your products to. Do you want to remain local or go worldwide? Whatever you decide, check out Canada Post and shipping companies like Fed Ex to figure out how much you have to charge clients to send them their stuff. Since you’ll already be renting a storage unit to keep your merch in, you can keep boxes and shipping materials in there, too.
  4. Take pictures of every item inside and out. Oftentimes, people will not order something unless they can see all its dimensions. Stage your items so they look like they’re found in a professional boutique. You can do this in the inside of your storage unit by dressing it up to look like a classy retail store. Captivating photos of your products will help it sell. No one is going to shop at your Etsy store if you don’t have compelling visuals.
  5. Set attainable goals so you’re not disappointed! Sales won’t happen overnight. You may have to do a little advertising for your business before it takes off. Instead of being upset if you haven’t made any money right away, set goals that make sense. Aim to sell one or two pieces of merch each month at first and expand your goals as bigger as your store becomes known.

Like any company, Etsy stores take a while to gain traction. Keep these helpful hints in mind and you’re sure to see your hard work pay off!
