Creative Torontonians may want to raid their storage units for some of their old clothing items, as a new contest will test their designing skills.
One of Toronto's top thrift stores, Double Take, is hosting its second annual Designer Dare contest, which will be held November 24. With this year's theme being "Cocktail Hour," designers will be challenged to complete a new outfit using their old clothes. Judges will determine whether the creations are cocktail-wear worthy.
The judging will take place on November 24 between 4 and 6 p.m. at the Double Take store on Gerrard Street. They can be assembled at any time prior to judging. The outfits will be assessed based on their durability, creativity and fashion.
The second-hand retail outlet says individuals can enter the contest up until November 23, with application forms available at the store. Some of the prizes for the winning designers include a vintage fur coat, meeting a leading Toronto designer and a variety of gift certificates.
