Experts say skip out on holiday bonuses

Many small business owners give employees holiday bonuses this time of year, but experts say it may benefit employees and businesses more to dole out bonuses in small increments throughout the entire year.

Small business owners looking to save money, in order to give out more bonuses or increase profits, should use self storage to streamline business operations and cut costs on office rent.

According to Michael Levy, president of online-rewards.com and an adviser to governments and Fortune 500 companies on incentive programs, Christmas bonuses are not what keep employees around, but rather appreciation of work throughout the year.

“If you look at the statistics around exit interviews, the No. 1 reason that people leave is a lack of recognition or appreciation for great work,” Levy said.

Levy added that a rewards program for employees given once a week or month can be a sufficient way in retaining and encouraging employees.
