Woman wins award for family-focused documentary

A Canadian filmmaker was recently awarded for her documentary.

Canadian actress, singer, film director, and screenwriter Sarah Polley was recently awarded for her confession documentary Stories We Tell, which won Best Film at the Toronto Film Critics Association on January 8. Her inspiration for creating the film came after she discovered the man that raised her was not her biological father.

Individuals who have collected their own awards or have acquired a large movie collection over the years and have nowhere to put them should invest in a self storage space. A Toronto storage unit is an excellent way to preserve items and keep track of them.

After interviewing her family members, including her father, she learned more about her deceased mother than she knew prior to making the film, she told the National FIlm Board of Canada's blog.

"Making this film was the hardest thing I’ve ever done," she wrote. "It took five years and tormented me. I didn’t want to make it, and I wanted to give up many times along the way, but I also didn’t want this story to be out there in the words of someone other than the many people who lived it.”
